When I wandered into this thing called Chi O, I had no idea what was about to hit me. I’d heard of this thing called “community” and “fellowship” and after coming out of a high school experience where community lacked, I wanted to experience it.
And oh man, did I find it in Chi Omega.
But what makes this group of girls a “community”? It has to be built around something.
In Colossians 2, Paul is writing about believers and he says,
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him, established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
I could fall to my knees thinking about being a part of a group that abides in this. This is the type of community that Chi O has within. One centered on truth, built on Him, rooted in Him and walking in faith of His promises and goodness. And wow, is it sweet.
I find myself among girls willing to labor for the gospel, cling to Christ and encourage others to do the same. They seek truth, speak truth and love well. I am so thankful and humbled to be a part of a group where He is evident and freely talked about.
This is what has made my time in Chi O unbelievable. Oh my goodness, do I love pigskin and sing and intramurals and all the other wonderful things that come with Chi O? Heck yes! But I love it because of the people I get to be around, knowing that I will walk out of this chapter sharpened, thankful and equipped with truth. Praise the Lord.
And above all put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom- Colossians 3: 14-16.
Chi O, may we continue to live as a community fighting for truth, and holding tightly to our Father of grace. May we continue steadfastly in pursuit of the gospel and may we encourage each other to fight for righteousness. What a joy it is to experience life with a body of believers by my side. Thank you, Lord!
